Okay . . I’m looking at the new moon calendar for October and the new moon is October 17th. Guess what? I still have openings for October 14th and 21st! So, stop thinkin and give me a call.

J.C. and I were discussing safety yesterday and what makes our camp a safe place to travel??? Well . . here are a few reasons we believe it’s safe to travel to Mexico.

We provide all ground transportation to and from the airport. So, your with our trained and professional staff from the moment you land until departure. We’re also just an hour from the Culiacan Airport so your not spending a lot of time in unknown, unchartered territory.

We have unarmed watchmen on duty 24/7. They are unarmed because we don’t believe there is a need for them to be armed. Our staff are local, well-known and respected members of the community.

Speaking of our staff – they aren’t people we just met. They’ve been with us for years . . . yes, Bennie is one of them!

When you register we offer you full travel insurance and medical coverage.

Our reservation form covers your medical and dietary needs. Bennie is given this information before your arrival so he has your records at camp in case of emergency.

We have Wi-Fi as of this year. No matter where you are in our camp . . you have access to the outside world.

Our rooms have secure metal doors with locks.

We watch the weather and we (not you) decide if it’s safe to go on the water.

We wash and sanitize all fruits and vegetables before serving them to you. We don’t buy anything off the back of a truck. We shop locally and buy from Sam’s Club, Wal-Mart and specialty stores.

Our drinking water is put through a reverse/osmosis system which is by far better than most city waters in America. The water you bath, clean, etc. with is chlorinated to the same standards of your city water in the states. (J.C. is a CSW1 – WQA Certified Water Specialist! Bet you didn’t know that!)

The boats are Coast Guard approved and equipped according to Coast Guard standards. They are also inspected on a regular basis by our management, owners and the CG.

Well that’s just what J.C. gave me in two seconds on why it’s safe to travel to Mexico. He was there last season right during the Swine flu scare and thought Mexico airport screening much safer than the screening he received when he returned to the states.

That’s my two cents for this week – stay tuned. Teri

Hi guys I just got back from Lake Mateos Bass Lodge. The fishing this week has been different. The bass are hitting on all types of lures, but they must be worked slow. Green Sinco worms seem to be working best, but Spinner baits, Buzz baits and Rattle Traps are good producers if worked slow. The highest number caught by one boat this week was 180 Bass. Many boats caught 80 bass per day. The Largest fish was 9 pounds with many six pound bass being caught as well. I really do not know what my best day was I lost count 3 times. But I do remember catching several six pound bass. I am planning to go back again this season if you would like to go at the same time give me a call my dates are still open. J.C.

No 10 pounders this week but several in the 7 pound class. Top water action continues to increase and spinner baits are doing well. Conditions are looking good for the rest of the month. Air fair is down from several months ago so come on down and get out of the snow.

The month of Oct. started off with big fish being caught. But, after the 10th. things got tough, the bite slowed down. Then about the 13th. of November the tide began to turn and the fish decided to start up. Catches are now running 30 to 40 per day per person with good top water action. Largest fish landed this week was 9 pounds 2 oz. Benny says the large fish are comming to the top and feeding. The lake level is 95 % and the water Temp is finally dropping some more, now down to 80.3. The water clarity is over 5 foot and the day time Temp is mow 89 degrees. The fish are hitting 6 t0 8 inch watermellion Lizards and June bug. Buzz baits and other top water lures. As the lake temp falls below 80 the fish bite will get stronger. Also, as the lake slowly drops the fish will stop moving arround as much and be easier to catch. We are looking for a great seasion this year as the lake is in great condition with clean water and lot’s of food. Make your reservations now our you will miss out on this years fun. J.C.
