Thanks PK Lures & Uncle Josh Bait Company

Note from JC:  Received some real nice swim baits from PK Lures – Steve Garber.  Met up with these folks at the July ICAST Convention and really liked the look of their lures.  Thought the lures would be good for Lake Mateos so asked them to send some so we could try them out.  Can’t wait to use them!  Colors are super – especially the string vibration swimmer.  If your coming to Lake Mateos this season you may want to consider getting some of these.  I espcially liked the ones with the red heads.  Check them out at pklures.com

Also, received some great stuff from Uncle Josh Bait Company!  Met up with Brent Northup at ICAST too and really liked their fish attractor and baits.  These folks really came through by sending a large box of items for us to try out.  I’m told the Prop Wash Toad works like a buzz bait on top, the Pork Baits – are used on the back of a jig . . can’t wait to give all a try.  Thanks Uncle Josh!

IS MEXICO SAFE?

Okay . . I’m looking at the new moon calendar for October and the new moon is October 17th.  Guess what?   I still have openings for October 14th and 21st!  So, stop thinkin and give me a call.

J.C. and I were discussing safety yesterday and what makes our camp a safe place to travel???  Well . . here are a few reasons we believe it’s safe to travel to Mexico.

  • We provide all ground transportation to and from the airport.  So, your with our trained and professional staff from the moment you land until departure.  We’re also just an hour from the Culiacan Airport so your not spending a lot of time in unknown, unchartered territory.
  • We have unarmed watchmen on duty 24/7.  They are unarmed because we don’t believe there is a need for them to be armed.  Our staff are local, well-known and respected members of the community.
  • Speaking of our staff – they aren’t people we just met.  They’ve been with us for years . . . yes, Bennie is one of them!
  • When you register we offer you full travel insurance and medical coverage.
  • Our reservation form covers your medical and dietary needs.  Bennie is given this information before your arrival so he has your records at camp in case of emergency.
  • We have Wi-Fi as of this year.  No matter where you are in our camp . . you have access to the outside world.
  • Our rooms have secure metal doors with locks.
  • We watch the weather and we (not you) decide if it’s safe to go on the water.
  • We wash and sanitize all fruits and vegetables before serving them to you.  We don’t buy anything off the back of a truck.  We shop locally and buy from Sam’s Club, Wal-Mart and specialty stores.
  • Our drinking water is put through a reverse/osmosis system which is by far better than most city waters in America.  The water you bath, clean, etc. with is chlorinated to the same standards of your city water in the states.  (J.C. is a CSW1 – WQA Certified Water Specialist!  Bet you didn’t know that!)
  • The boats are Coast Guard approved and equipped according to Coast Guard standards.  They are also inspected on a regular basis by our management, owners and the CG.

Well that’s just what J.C. gave me in two seconds on why it’s safe to travel to Mexico.  He was there last season right during the Swine flu scare and thought Mexico airport screening much safer than the screening he received when he returned to the states.

That’s my two cents for this week – stay tuned.  Teri
